Troutman Sanders’ Riddell Assumes Leadership of Chick-fil-A Bowl Board
ATLANTA (April 9, 2013) – Stephen W. Riddell, a partner at Troutman Sanders LLP, today began his tenure as chairman of the Chick-fil-A Bowl.
Following his tenure as vice chairman, Riddell takes over for Daryl Evans, vice president, advertising and marketing communications, AT&T Mobility, who served as chairman from 2010-2012.
“Steve's involvement has played a significant and meaningful role in the enhancement of our bowl and our brand over the past 25 years,” said Gary Stokan, Chick-fil-A Bowl president and CEO. “He is a leader and a true professional, and there is no doubt that our organization will continue to thrive under his leadership.”
Riddell’s primary responsibility as chairman will be to oversee the Chick-fil-A Bowl’s Board of Trustees and Board Directors. Together, these two groups determine the Bowl’s strategic direction as it relates to growing the Bowl’s overall brand. This includes management of the Chick-fil-A Bowl, the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game and the Chick-fil-A Bowl Challenge charity golf event.
The Chick-fil-A Bowl’s ongoing bid to become a Host Bowl in the new college football playoff system is also expected to be a primary point of emphasis for Riddell and the Board of Trustees.
“This may just be the most significant era in our history and I am very much looking forward to helping the Bowl during this time of great opportunity,” Riddell said. “The future of the Chick-fil-A Bowl is extraordinarily bright, and I’m excited to lead the charge in positioning our brand as one of the best in the nation.”
Riddell has nearly 30 years’ experience representing employers in litigation and arbitration of employment claims. He represents companies in a wide range of industries, including the quick service restaurant business, utilities, communications and construction.
For more than a decade, Riddell has been recognized as one of America’s Leading Lawyers in the employment law area by Chambers USA. He also has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America as a top labor and employment practitioner. Steve has been selected by Law & Politics and Atlanta Magazine as a Super Lawyer, and is on Georgia Trend’s Legal Elite list.
In addition to his role at the Chick-fil-A Bowl, Riddell serves on the Board of Directors of the Metro Atlanta Chamber, Central Atlanta Progress and the Regional Business Coalition. He also serves on the Boards of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Carter Center and Georgia Appleseed.
